My travels began courtesy of Uncle Sam. I was a midshipman in the U.S. Navy when I was allowed a short visit to Italy as part of a required summer training cruise. Rome, Pompeii, and Capri captured my imagination and my heart. My Navy career eventually allowed me to indulge my love for travel with stops throughout the United States, as well as Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Far East, the Caribbean, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand.
I left the Navy in 1997 and recently retired from my second career in higher education. Most of my travel involves visits with grandchildren, but this summer included three weeks in Greece and northern Italy, followed by some delightful time in Arkansas!
I am always happy to share my interest in travel with others, and I am honored to be the official Explorer in Residence with Exemplary Travel Advisors. In case you were wondering, Patty Zesut is my daughter and has been one of my favorite travel buddies her entire life. Now that my wife and I are retired, I love taking long road trips to explore the US, traveling to meet up with old friends in many different countries, and testing out new and new-to-us travel opportunities world-wide whenever possible.
