We've seen a massive surge in people wanting to visit European destinations this year. So much so that, if you haven't planned yet, you may find slim pickings if you're considering a last minute trip.
They say the early bird gets the worm and that is especially true when it comes to luxury travel. If you want to get the best experience possible, it pays to plan ahead.
While Europe continues to be popular, interest in further-flung destinations is starting to perceptibly rise.
Here are several reasons why Australia and New Zealand are likely to be on many travelers lists in 2024:
Bucket-List Travel is HUGE Right Now
The world has largely recovered from the pandemic shut-downs and travel has boomed back as priorities shifted from purchasing things to investing in experiences. Countries like Australia and New Zealand are now seen as "must do" destinations rather than a dream to save for the future.
Natural Beauty Abounds in Australia AND New Zealand
Australia and New Zealand are known for their stunning natural landscapes, which include beaches, mountains, rainforests, and national parks. The Great Barrier Reef in Australia and Milford Sound in New Zealand are just two of the many examples of breathtaking scenery that can be found in these countries.
Opportunities for Adventure Travel
Both Australia and New Zealand offer a wide range of adventure activities, such as hiking, skiing, surfing, bungee jumping, and skydiving. These activities are particularly popular among younger travelers, who are likely to be a key demographic for travel in 2024.
Unique Cultural Experiences
Australia and New Zealand have deep and intricate histories and, correspondingly, the opportunity for unique cultural experiences are not in short supply. Indigenous culture, museums, and art galleries. These experiences offer a glimpse into the unique history and traditions of these countries.
Food and Wine - Top Notch in Australia & New Zealand
Australia and New Zealand are both known for their excellent food and wine. From fresh seafood to world-class wines, visitors to these countries can indulge in a range of culinary delights. I recommend visiting the South Australian wine country and Marlborough in New Zealand (among others) for some excellent vineyard experiences.
Ease of Travel
Yes, we know it takes a long time to get to either of these countries from North America. Still, with an increasing number of flights and nonstop routing from a number of North American cities, it's easier than ever to visit these far-off destinations. Additionally, the safe and excellent public transportation in both countries make them very easy destinations to enjoy.
If you can swing it, I recommend upgrading to a seat with extra legroom or all the way up to Business Class for a more enjoyable flight.
Overall, the combination of natural beauty, adventure activities, cultural experiences, and excellent food and wine make Australia and New Zealand incredibly appealing destinations for travelers in 2024 and beyond.
